Yesterday was a lot of fun in the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. On Charles St. was the start of the Kelly St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock 5K run through the Harbor.
I love running around the Inner Harbor because the views are great. Running with 5000 other people dressed in green is a lot of fun. We walked to the start line around 1:05pm.
The race starts at 1:15pm, which is amazing! No getting up early. The Baltimore St. Patrick’s Day 5K is like the anti-runners run- no getting up early, race is mostly downhill, and a lot of beer at the end.
The very crowded start:
The race is run on the parade route right before it starts. We end up getting some cheering from the parade-goers as they set up along the streets. It was very windy so not too many were set up but enough that we got some cheers towards the end.
I ran with my friend Tara for the whole race. We are pretty equivalent in our speed but we were having fun and chatting, not trying to go for time. Racing somewhere among the crowd were my other friends Michelle, Kristy, and Mandy. I ended up finishing in 1051st place overall and 109th place in my age group. Not a big winner today!
The giant crowd moved to Power Plant Live for a free beer but the lines were so long that we just went back to Federal Hill for a regular (non-green) beer. A fun-fulled Sunday Funday.
