This weekend was a good one. BC and I were able to take a day to spend on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in a little town called Oxford. Oxford is on the Choptank and Tred Avon Rivers- tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay.
Sandaway Waterfront Lodging is on the last street in Oxford, closet to the water where the two rivers meet. They are a member of Select Registry– a premier group of Bed and Breakfast options known for their quality.
Wendy from Sandaway checked us in around 3pm, after we had completed some major outlet shopping on the drive from Baltimore at the Queestown Outlets. Outlet shopping can be hit or miss but on this day, it was a big hit.
Good thing I bought a new winter coat from the Columbia outlet because the temperature dropped to 40 degrees at night and we needed to do some porch sitting. The views at Sandaway were amazing! There were Adirondack chairs set up over the lawn for guests along with 2 chairs and a loveseat on our porch overlooking the water.
Oxford is a 40 minute drive from St. Michael’s and about 20 minutes from Easton, Maryland. On the drive to Oxford, stop and grab some beer and wine at the amazing Hair of the Dog wine and spirits store- where the knowledgeable employees help you find what you like to drink. They had a great selection of wine and beer- pleasing both BC and I.
We had a nice little night out on the deck with some adult beverages. There are a few restaurants down the street within walking distance, including Pope’s Tavern and the Robert Morris Inn. I needed to watch some Iowa Hawkeye football so we ended up driving to a sports bar for some TV’s.
Inside our room the Tred Avon #2, is a queen size bed, a faux fireplace, and a wine fridge. It was a big and cute room that was extremely comfortable.
I ran the fireplace the whole time we were there. I love fireplaces!
Inside the main house is a library with a TV, two Keurig coffee makers, wine glasses and openers, plus Biscoff- my favorite cookie!!!! I may have grabbed a handful to have with my porch wine
The next morning was gorgeous. BC and I went for a walk around the grounds to take in the sunrise and views.
My favorite photo of the day:
There is a small “beach” as well- great for setting out on kayaks, canoes, and wading in the water. It was little too cold for watersports this November weekend.
The Oxford-Bellevue Ferry bring connects cars and people in Oxford to Bellevue (close to St. Michael’s). It is about 200 meters from Sandaway.
We had an excellent time at Sandaway Waterfront Lodging in Oxford, Maryland. If you are in need of a weekend getaway and you are in the Mid-Atlantic area, check out the small towns in the area. If you seek quaint towns, relaxation, and good seafood- the Eastern Shore is for you.
