My quest to visit all 50 United States has a shorter to-do list- today I drove into Alabama! We are hitting up Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, Alabama for some fun in the sun.

Gulf Shores Beach

About an hour after this picture it started  clouding up raining and hasn’t really stopped since. So we’ve been eating all the food! (and hanging out in shark mouths).

Seafood Etoufee for me!

And Crab Cakes (not Maryland style!) for my brother:

We are staying in an adorable AirBnB right on the ocean. When it stops being rainy we will probably do a lot of porch and beach sitting.

After grocery shopping yesterday we planned on eating breakfast/having coffee in the AirBnB before heading out to explore. Plans change when your brother accidentally buys whole beans instead of grounds.

Instead of crushing the beans with whatever kitchen utensil we found, I ran out quick and got us coffee nearby which also had a lot of fantastic looking donuts!!!

Sassy Bass Crazy Donuts for the win!

The cinnamon roll donut was my favorite, Mom dug the lemon donut best.

We are off to explore more of the Gulf Shores of Alabama! Hopefully the weather clears up soon so I can work on my tan a bit!

Reader Question: Oysters- yay or nay? What is your favorite beach food?

  1. 48 states! That’s awesome! Love oysters. I love fruit when I’m at the beach, and fruity drinks and of course, all the fresh seafood. Have a great time!
