B&O American Brasserie
The second part of my Baltimore Eats contest winnings was a free dinner at B&O American Brasserie. I’ve had drinks here before with the girls but hadn’t gotten a chance to try the food. From start to finish, here is the culinary adventure we took last night.
The shrimp and grits immediately stood out on the menu. It was served with pork belly on top. I will eat anything with pork belly. Anything. While it is not the most photogenic dish, it was fabulous.
The second appetizer we order was at the recommendation of our server. She knew where it was at. Ricotta Gnudi was light and also served with bacon. Pig for the win.
BC and I both are fans of bourbon so we chose Manhattans from their award winning cocktail list. It was definitely one of the best Manhattans I’ve ever had the pleasure to drink.
Main courses all look delicious but the scallops are my standard entree at nice dinners. They were perfectly cooked and the farro and oyster mushroom concoction underneath the scallops was superb.
BC likes his red meat and went for the Ribeye as the waitress recommended. I loved it! An 8 ounce portion of deliciousness.
But B&O saved the best for last. The pumpkin donut with a side of cereal milk (tasted like milk that was served with Cinnamon Toast Crunch) was the best dessert I’ve ever had. For real. Go to B&O to order this now. The outside of the donut had a crisp crust and soft doughy middle, the pumpkin flavor enhanced when dipped in the cereal milk. Best dessert ever!
My stomach was overstuffed as I had to eat the whole donut of course.
Overall, it was a spectacular dinner. The service was excellent as well. I always appreciate a server who helps you order the right thing. Funny note: we actually didn’t order the pumpkin donut but she made sure we got one anyway.
