Brampton Inn Chestertown, Maryland

Before checking into the Brampton Inn, a morning hike through Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge is the best way to get the weekend started in Chestertown, Maryland. I soaked up a healthy dose of Vitamin D while getting my nature vibe on under this gorgeous blue sky.

Nature makes this hiker hungry so I made my way into nearby Chestertown. A purposely small lunch fueled my shopping expedition through the cute, little downtown area in Chestertown. Make sure to check out Chester River Wine and Cheese shop where you can easily spend a few hours tasting cheese and sipping wine to have at one of their tables or to takeaway. T shirt shopping a few doors down from there was a hoot.

A stop in Cassinelli Winery and Distillery on High Street will warm you right up on a chilly afternoon. Make sure to taste the Girl Shine Apple Brandy for a taste of something different. If alcohol isn’t your thing, Play It Again Sam is a great little coffee shop with good WIFI to Instagram all of your Chestertown adventures.

This glorious Saturday I was a guest at Brampton Inn about a mile outside of Chestertown. Brampton Inn is a member of Select Registry, known for their high quality properties with excellent service. The grand bed and breakfast did not disappointment.  Everything about my stay here was cozy and fabulous.

I arrived at 3:45pm, just enough time to check in and get a short tour of the main house and my room before tea time. There are 7 rooms and 6 separate cottages to choose from for your stay. Some of the cottages even allow for pets!

My room is the  Yellow Room – a great, queen sized room with real working fireplace.  The bed was perfect for the single traveler; the canopy was a great touch! The bathroom was modern and huge with a lot of room for cosmetics. The room was definitely big enough to live in full-time.

I arrived at 3:45 to make it to Brampton Inn’s extra-special tea time. I can see why tea time is a do-not-miss even for guests. Not only is there a lot of fun teas to choose from but also homemade chocolate cake, made from scratch hummus, fresh vegetables, and homemade marshmallows!!!  (Technically for the hot chocolate but I had no problem eating one without the warm chocolate delivery system).

But the best part was the fresh oysters pulled from the bay that morning! Food porn for seafood lovers:

My plate full of goodies:

At tea time all the nights guests converged on the dining room making for some lively conversation. The group managed to convince one woman to try oysters for the first time. When in Maryland, do as the Marylanders do and eat the slimy, selenium-rich sea creatures Smile She liked them!

Being the big explorer I am, I would like to say that dinner included some fabulous seafood at an amazing restaurant I found in Chestertown. But in reality, I bought snacks and a banana to eat by the fireplace while I read a novel and watched a movie from the Brampton Inn’s extensive collection.

I made quite the fire and spent the evening with myself under the covers. I made some herbal tea and found the cookie stash the innkeeper makes for guests. Oatmeal raisin, coconut, and a homemade marshmallow for me!

Not the healthiest dinner but very tasty Smile

My tummy was ready for breakfast in the morning when I woke up. Yet another fire in a fireplace to start off the morning.

Coffee in the dining room was the first thing on my morning agenda.

Breakfast started with homemade apple oatmeal muffins and a poached pear with pomegranate seeds. The muffin was to die for. It melted in my mouth with a rich and buttery texture.

Grand Marnier French toast was my entrée after deciding between it and an omelet. Really good sausage on the side.

Alas, this is the end of my journey at the Brampton Inn Chestertown. It is a friendly, welcoming bed and breakfast on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I highly recommend this place for a romantic weekend, mother/daughter trip, and anyone out exploring the area. There were a few repeat customers here, who noted that they keep returning because of the amazing accommodations and the warm, friendly vibe.

Oh my goodness! I came on over to your blog, and I couldn’t believe this was your latest post! My husband and I went to this B&B several years ago while we were living in the DC area. We loved it so much! And Chestertown is just adorable. 🙂 I’m so glad you had a great experience too! We always talk about going back one day….

  3. Brilliant timing on this post. We are in the middle of arranging our next trip to the US and Maryland is on our list. Thanks.
