Chicago + St. Patrick’s Weekend + WIT Summit

Over St. Patrick’s Day Weekend I made the trip to Chicago for many reasons.  1) St. Patrick’s Day in very Irish city is fun, 2) My best friend Christina lives there, 3) The first Women in Travel Summit was taking place, and 4) I need a Chicago-style pizza fix.

The Women in Travel Summit was made up of predominately travel bloggers.  I met some awesome women who share the same passion I do for travel.  A lot of my friends think its cool that I travel but they really don’t understand that trip anticipation is what gets me through the work day Smile  I wouldn’t say I learned a ton but it was a great meet-up to get me excited about the blog again.  Hence, the blog redesign.  I like the looks of Andrea On Vacation a lot more now!!

There is a huge Irish presence in Chicago so they dye the river green and go all out.  The parade was a mess.  The conference stopped for 2 hours over lunch so everyone could get out and see it, if they dared.  It was a drunken, muddy mess but I meet BC and his friends and we made it!

(notice the guys legs in the tree!)

Mostly the floats were not very cool but I liked all the high school bands.  We saw one from Tennessee! That is a long way to go for a parade.

All the Ghostbusters walking by were my favorite.  They had a Slimer guy running ahead of them.  It was pretty great.

It was a fun morning and afternoon in Chicago for St. Patricks’ festivities- travel blogging fun, Irish drinking fun, and drunk people watching.  Deep-dish pizza taste test coming up next!
