First night in Charleston

After lunch in Savannah we hit the road for Charleston.

After one gas stop and some annoying road construction, we made it to Charleston.

We are staying in the heart of the historic district right by a lot of historical homes and museums, but most importantly, yummy restaurants.

We found dinner by consulting Giada from the Food Network and Yelp- this led us to Poogan’s Porch.  Best decision ever- listen to Giada!

We sat on the porch too.  Its about 80 degrees and sunny during the day here.  Perfect weather.

This Poogan’s Porch dinner was one of the top 10 meals I’ve ever eaten.  (sorry brother, you will have to look at more food pictures)

cheesy and delicious!

My meal of pork belly, BBQ pork, mac and cheese with bacon, and collard greens.  Everything on the plate was delicious, even the collard greens which I’ve never liked any other time I’ve been served them.  I couldn’t even tell you which pork dish I liked the best.  They were all superb and make me drool thinking about them again.

Courtney’s plate (plus Riley for cuteness) of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and pimento slaw.  Riley decided sleeping was overrated right after this picture so Courtney did not get to eat as much of this delicious meal as she hoped to eat.  I guess we will have to come back again 🙂

More historical Charleston sightseeing on the agenda for tomorrow.  So far I really like it here and looking forward to more!

I really liked Charleston too. Very pretty. And your food all looks amazing!!! You are going to need to do some serious exercising after this trip! At least I know I would have to.

I am drooling looking at all this food!! Those biscuits look amaaazing. Also, free fountain sodas? That is my dream. I felt like I couldn’t drink soda all weekend at fitbloggin… everyone kept talking about how soda is “the worst thing in the world.”
