Hello from Barbados
Hi everyone! I’m in sunny Barbados for the next few days, soaking up the sun and enjoying every minute I’m not in the snow/wind storm back home in Baltimore.
My mom and I met during via flight connection at the Atlanta airport- she flew out of Iowa during a blizzard, was delayed, and ended up running to make the flight to Barbados. I met her with a breakfast burrito at the gate (a super-important component of flying is the burrito). We were the last people to board. Whew!
View from the balcony!
Once we arrived at our hotel, the Hilton Barbados, we were whisked away to a complimentary happy hour with rum punch, wine, and a few hors d’oeuvres. Once our drinks were secured, we went hiking around the grounds of the Hilton which was built between a lighthouse and a fort.
Every happy hour should have some cannons, am I right?
We ate some dinner at a hotel restaurant that involved some beer battered fish and salad. Combining one healthy thing with one unhealthy thing totally negates the unhealthy thing- #truth.
My 3:30am wakeup call to get to the airport on time caught up with me really quick (plus the wine) so Mom and I were both in bed by 8pm. I ended up sleeping a full 11 hours- I was a sleepy bear!
We tried to fight the sleepies by hammock-napping but it did not work.
That is for Day 1 in Barbados. We will be visiting Barbados for a few days before a change of Caribbean paradise scenery.
Reader Question: Have you been to Barbados? Did you have a favorite activity here- besides drinking rum and getting a sunburn? That I already have covered
