Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco Portland
The last stop on our Oregon roadtrip was Portland, Oregon. Portland is the vibrant, hipster city known for their food trucks and laid back vibe.
If you are a regular blog reader, you know that I love Kimpton Hotel Monaco hotels. I’ve stayed at them in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Alexandria, VA. When I saw there was one in Portland, I had to stay there.
I warned Mom that the décor is loud but awesome. We got a corner room on the 9th floor which I loved. Kimpton hotels always have free WIFI when you sign up for their rewards program and you get $10 per stay to use at the mini-bar.
The bathroom is big but nothing special until you actually look at the wallpaper. The wallpaper is covered with Portland landmarks. Very cool!
What really won Mom over at the Hotel Monaco Portland was the wine hour from 5-6pm every night. I’ve been to wine hours that had only wine but this one had snacks, vendors from outside businesses to promote their local products, along with wine, local beer, and cider.
The local cake baker brought some samples of pretty cakes for hotel lodgers to try out. Mom was a big fan of these..
It was the jackpot of free happy hours!
The Portland Marathon was also this same weekend so the place was packed. The Hotel Monaco Portland wine happy hour even had face painting for kids, temporary tattoos, a piano player, and an easel with real paint set up for people to randomly paint pictures. It was quite the fun party.
If you are visiting a city with a Hotel Moncao and the price is right, spring for a stay. You will have a great time!
More from Portland, Oregon including amazing donuts, farmer’s market, and a giant bookstore coming up next!
