Margaritas and Desert Donuts Phoenix

Phoenix is one of my favorite food cities since my love for Mexican food knows no bounds. Baltimore is not known for having amazing Mexican cuisine so I like to visit my sister and family often- to see them but to eat a lot of delicious food as well!

Taco salad is not authentic but it is sure delicious- also on my weekend menu were burritos and carne asada.

The most important aspect of a Mexican meal is the margarita! The blue agave margarita on the left is mine and the prickly pear on the right was my sisters. Both were amazing and fresh- no pre-made mix here!

Food aside, BC and I made the trip to Arizona this particular weekend because our Baltimore Ravens were playing the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football.

Tailgating began around 2pm with a group called Bmore Around Town.  They organize tailgates, parties, and entire trips to Ravens football away game weekends. It is a great company to travel with (if you are into the Baltimore Ravens). BC found some cousins at the tailgate- small world!

It was blazing hot in the sun- welcome to Phoenix! Tickets were fairly easy to find on Stubhub (there were no scalpers) since the Ravens are pretty bad and the game wasn’t too important. We purchased the tickets through the Stubhub app and did the instant download right outside the University of Phoenix stadium. Technology at its finest!

The Ravens did not win (shocker!) but the game was pretty exciting at the end. However all was not lost- the craft beer options in the University of Phoenix stadium were really good and the pulled chicken nachos were excellent!

On Tuesday morning, to help us feel better following the loss, Desert Donuts was added to the agenda before heading to the airport. I love Desert Donuts and I even tried something new this time.

Lemon for me and caramel pretzel for BC:

BC also ordered the deluxe breakfast bowl that is eggs, cheese, bacon, and gravy over a donut! How crazy! He said it was delicious.

While the Ravens didn’t come away with a win, it was still an excellent weekend with the family- meeting my new niece, playing a lot of Rainbow Brite, and getting my fill of Mexican food until the next time I visit Phoenix!

I’ve never been to Phienix but hear great things about it. I have to make it out that way one of these days. That breakfast bowl with the donut sounds ridiculous. I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to try that.

This post makes me hungry! I love how they use real juices for margaritas in that area — so much better!

  3. Mexican food and a donuts with pretzels on top? I’m sold!
