One Year Ago Today, Cahal Pech in San Ignacio, Belize

Hi everyone! I’m stuck in rainy Baltimore today making my packing list for an upcoming tropical vacation to the South Pacific.  I looked back to where I was in the world a year ago today for some warm weather inspiration and found that I was in rainy Belize.  Cahal Pech, the ancient ruins outside San Ignacio to be exact.  I guess today, no matter if I am in the tropics or in the United States, this date is always rainy!

I miss those Iguanas from San Ignacio, Belize. Visiting the San Ignacio Iguana Project was one of my favorite random touristy things that I have done.

That whole day was memorable even though it was cold, rainy and not what the group intended to do.  Sometimes going with the flow makes for the most fun.

*going with the flow did not involve me putting an iguana on my head, I just took the photos Smile

But back to my tropical packing list. The entire vacation is about 3 weeks long split up into hotel stays and cruising.  I’ve been saving up clothing that is old or I just don’t wear to bring on vacation to force myself to wear it or leave it behind.  More room for souvenirs that way.  Does anyone else do this or am I a weirdo?

My last question of the day is what  books have inspired you to travel, have you just enjoyed reading, and would recommend to others? There are a few 12+hour long flights involved in my upcoming vacation and I’m looking for some good book recommendations beyond the normal Alchemist, Wild, Under the Tuscan Sun picks.

Any good reads lately? How do you pack for a long trip?

I’m always looking up a book based in the location I am traveling too before I go. It helps get me inspired!

I’m possibly going to Belize in March. I’d love to hear more about your trip here! I’ve never thought to pack clothes I don’t typically wear, I’ll have to try that little trick.
Have you ever read “Wild” by Cheryl Strayed? That is a fabulous book!

I sometimes do the same with the clothes packing so you’re not a weirdo, unless that makes us both weirdos? 😉 All sounds exciting! Looking forward to your South Pacific posts. Happy and safe travels!
