Phi Phi Islands

Phi Phi made up of 2 islands- Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh.  We are staying on Phi Phi Don which was hit very hard by the tsunami in 2004. Most of it is rebuilt but you can see some of the rebuild still occurring around the Island.

The view from our hotel breakfast spot.

Our hotel bungalow is actually pretty high up on a hill.  We are getting a good glut and calf workout in every time we go to our room. PhiPhiIslandhotelroom

Giant porch and great views!

For dinner we went to the Reggae Bar because they have Thai fighting by real Thai fighters and tourists can fight each other too for a free ginormous drink.

There were our non-free ginormous drinks.

And there was a burger challenge.  800 grams of food to eat in 30 minutes and you get it free- a triple burger, potato wedges, onion rings, and coleslaw.  Or fail and pay 500 baht ($15 give or take).

Four guys attempted it and all four failed.

No one in my group did the Thai boxing at the insistence of our guide who has seen many vacationers ruin their trips from fighting injuries. Also, most of the idiot guys had just done the burger challenge and would have ralphed everywhere.

They were moving so much all my pictures were blurry.  But it was fun to watch both real Thai fighters and dumb tourists alike.

Tomorrow we are going to Phi Phi Leh and Maya Bay where Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Beach was filmed.  Consider me excited!

I could have had two of those meals and then some Thai boxing. Bring it on! 🙂

I sort of thought the same thing about the burgers but I don’t think any of the tourists were drunk enough to box you.
