Poipu Beach is the ultimate spot to watch the sunset in Kauai in the winter. The sun ends up setting right over the water in winter, giving Poipu beach the perfect view.
I arrived to my Air BnB about an hour before sunset. Poipu Beach was my first choice to stay near on Kauai because this beach is excellent for swimming, snorkeling, viewing sea wildlife, and watching sunsets. Also right now It is sunny, 75 degrees, and heavenly. Two thumbs up!
Lot of other people had the same idea as me. I claimed my spot on the sand and waited for the sun to go down.
Right as the sun was about to go down a bunch of clouds rolled ruining the clear skies. Apparently if it is clear, the sky will turn green. I have never seen a green sunset so I was bummed when it didn’t happen. Stupid clouds.
There were a lot of surfers and SUP-ers out on the water that were fun to watch as the sun set. After it was all over, food was the only thing on my mind. I hopped over to nearby Brennecke’s Beachfront Restaurant for a cold Kona Brewing Company IPA and some poke tacos.
Poke is a raw, tuna salad and because we are in Hawaii, it is super-fresh and amazing! I will probably be eating poke everyday for the rest of my trip! It is so delicious!
Hawaii is 5 hours behind Baltimore so I was falling asleep in my plate. I couldn’t even finish my beer. I walked the 2 blocks back from the beach to my Air BnB and promptly feel asleep after a day full of traveling that started at 4am.
Tomorrow the views look like this!
Check back and see more gorgeous scenery from the island of Kauai.
