Road Trip to the Finger Lakes

Hello from New York! I am currently in Watkins Glen, New York for a fun-filled week in the Finger Lakes Region. But first let’s talk about the trip up to New York from Baltimore.

Basically, it was uneventful. No traffic at all, way faster than we thought it would take.  It is so easy to get to the Finger Lakes Region from Baltimore. Around 4.5 hours from start to finish through the gorgeous, green Appalachians.

My favorite part of the roadtrip was the food of course.  We stopped in Corning, New York around noon for some grub. Checking out Yelp we found Slammin’ Jammin’ BBQ next to the Corning Glass Museum (where I will  tour in a few days).

This is some of the best BBQ I have ever had- no joke! Maybe, dare I say it, the best?

The husband and wife team own and run the place and were the only employees in the joint today. There were 2 customers there just before noon and about 20 there just after noon- a favorite lunch spot in the area.

My ribs were phenomenal!  BC and I are a lot better at ordering now and we did half-sies on the ribs and a brisket sandwich. The ribs, oh the ribs.  Go here! Get these!

The BBQ sauce is amazing, the meat is flavorful while still being meat. I hate ribs that “fall of the bone” in a pile of mush. These ribs are the bomb.

The brisket was amazing, the baked beans were the best ever, and even the French fries which are not really my thing were the best! If anything was not the best is was the coleslaw which was only very good.  Seriously, find this joint in Corning, New York. Slammin’ Jammin’ BBQ is to die for.

After the most amazing lunch ever we drove the short distance to Watkins Glen and stopped for some views at Clute Memorial Park. We are excited to see some more of the Finger Lakes Region and taste some wine!

Stayed tuned for more! Chateau LaFayette Reneau Winery, Atwood Estates Winery, and Heavily Brewing Company are on the agenda.

oh the little unassuming mom and pop restaurants we randomly stumble upon in the middle of nowhere are just the best!

What!?! I didn’t know you were going here. Josh is from this area. We’ve been to Watkins Glen (actually we jumped a fence because they were updating the trail and it was mostly closed).
