Dana Biosphere Reserve and Little Petra

In an effort to break up a long drive from the Dead Sea to Petra, Dana Biosphere Reserve was a great place to hop out of the van, hike for a few hours, eat a picnic lunch, and keep on trucking towards Petra. Hiking and Swimming in the Dead Sea

Besides Petra, the Dead Sea is the most touristy place in Jordan. Floating in the Dead Sea is synonymous with healing and relaxation. But before all the floating and relaxing, I needed to get some exercise. My group and I hiked up a very steep incline to overlook the Dead Sea. Once upon a time, all this was under water and you could see the sea fossils. Due to irrigation and damming, the Dead Sea water levels are extremely low.
