Zip Lining in St Kitts

In an effort to be a good girlfriend, I occasionally  ask BC what activities he would like to do. His answer for this Caribbean trip was to zip line.  This is why I only ask him occasionally, he wants to do scary things!

My brother, BC, and I zip lined high above the trees of St. Kitts with Ski Safari Tours Zipline, near the former Wingfield Estate a former working sugar and rum plantation which was established in 1625.

The bumpy ride to the top of the mountain jostled us to the point we thought walking might have been a better idea. But we made it, even our guides did who were attached to the sides, back, and the gun torrent on top.

There I go:

The safety talk was quick  and a short practice zip line was used to perfect our newly learned ziplining skills. My camera was strapped to my wrist and I held on to the metal handles for dear life. We are ready for business.

I am not scared of heights but I hate going fast- sledding, skiing, go carting, and more. Luckily I was too freaked out over flying hundreds of feet in the air attached to some steel cables by a guy I just met to think about the speed too much the first time.  Views from the 2nd run:

By the fourth and final run, I was racing as fast as I could.  It was so much fun! And I totally beat BC on the double zipline! I was proud. Coming in hot:

Stopping is  the worst part- if there is a worst part. You get a little whiplash and potentially look foolish trying not to fall down when you get your footing back on land.

Ziplining was so much fun! I would definitely do it again with Adventure Safari Ziplining in St. Kitts. Four runs only took us 30 minutes of actual ziplining time but it was so worth the money. The three of us got a celebratory beer- Stag, a local brew- for not injuring ourselves.

The grounds of the Wingfield Estate  are fun to explore while waiting for the bus to arrive.

Zip lining St Kitts is a highlight of this year’s family Thanksgiving trip! It is not as scary as it seems and is a big thrill.  Do it!

  1. Wow, looks beautiful! I went zip lining once. My brother and I did it in Florida at Gatorland. It was cool ziplining over all the alligators but a little concerning worrying about falling into a pit of them!

  2. Looks like a cool ride! In my case, I have the opposite situation. I am more inclined to adventurous situations than my husband. I was able to convince him to zip line one time in Costa Rica but I think that was it for that specific adventure.

  3. I’ve only been zip-lining in Vegas and I feel like that wasn’t the true experience. This looks so much better! And I love the celebratory beer! What better reason to celebrate then making it out alive! 😀

  4. I remember being SO scared the first time I went zip lining — but ended up having a BLAST!! I can’t remember if I blogged about it, but I’m sure glad I caved and committed to that first line — Great experience!! How exciting you guys were in such an exotic spot. 🙂
